Bonding is not permanent. Looked after well it usually lasts several years before it needs repolishing or replacing, and how long depends a great deal on your habits: grinding, biting into hard foods and heavy staining all shorten its life.
For most people there is no need for an injection at all, because little or no tooth is removed. If a tooth is sensitive or the chip sits close to the nerve we will numb the area first. Comfort comes before speed.
